The Shining

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 9:59 pm

The Shining revolves in the Overlook Hotel, which is a haunted place which possesses its off-season caretaker and turns him into a murderous rage against his wife and young son. The film starts out with the beautiful yet haunting arial shots of a mountain. Jack Nicholson plays Jack Torrance, a Vermont school teacher who works at the hotel as a winter caretaker. Jack brings his wife Wendy and young son Danny, who has some strange psychic powers.

In the middle of the film, odd and mysterious events take place in the hotel. Jack also slowly becomes strange and evil. Kubrick does a tremendous job in outlining the physical and emotional details of the film. Jack’s comic character in the beginning slowly turns into a mischievous devil-possessed person. The creepy walls and carpets of the hotels help build up the suspense as well. Kubrick makes this such a great film that you will excitingly wait for the thrilling ending.
